Can't beat 'em, build 'em shelves

My hubby hates my cluttery mess. I do also, but I prefer to call it "organized chaos". It could be my (sometimes) outstanding memory because he will ask me where something is and I can tell him. I can not tell him what I ate for lunch at school.

He just hates all clutter. He wants everything put away - I like it that way too but sometimes things need to be spread out, like when matching socks.

In this case he hates that we have a thousand things in our basement all over the floor. I have been slowly....very slowly getting rid of things and consolidating things.

That old course catalog from Spring semester 2006 - THREW IT AWAY, didn't even hesitate.

Cody decided that enough was enough and built me shelves. Aren't they glorious! I can't wait to fill them up, hee hee!

Breakin' it down

This year I took a different approach to Spring Break, I did it realistically. I also left ALL the school stuff at school and it was the best Spring Break ever...except maybe for that one where I was in Mexico and ended up having a baby in December ;)

Here is a re-cap and comments on how it went.

Realistic To-Do List

1. Watch cartoons every morning. - Check!
2. Go to the library at least once. - Does returning books but not getting new ones count?
3. Catch up on laundry. - Check!
4. Take naps. - Double Check!!
5. Do one and only one extra homework assignment per grad class - umm...I didn't do any so I am not sure if I succeeded or not on this one??
6. Open the windows. - Check - but only once.
7. Plant flowers. - ummm...no, it snowed.
8. Mop kitchen and bathroom. - Check!
9. Get out new 31 My Home items and sort toys. - Kind of check, 31 is out, some toys sorted, most toys in a giant pile.
10. Vacuum all rooms. - all but our bedroom
11. Watch Cinda lella...but not more than once a day. - Nope, Aristocats is the new favorite...everybody wants to be a cat!
12. Play dress up. - Triple Check and kudos to daddy because he put pretties (aka hair clips) in his hair.
13. Have ice cream for snack.- Yes We Did!!
14. Go for walks - No Check - it snowed, we walked on the porch for a few minutes one day and ran laps around the house at the farm, otherwise it was just way to stinking cold.
15. Remove at least one tote from basement. - Check!! See my next post for an update of this!!

Breakin'

It is almost time for SPRING BREAK!! 48 more hours and I am "home free" WOOOOO!!!!

A whole week of Carly and I chillin at home. Open windows, folding laundry, sorting toys, etc...I am not going to make a huge and unrealistic list of things to do like I do each year and it never gets done so this is my list for the next week.

Realistic To-Do List

1. Watch cartoons every morning.
2. Go to the library at least once.
3. Catch up on laundry.
4. Take naps.
5. Do one and only one extra homework assignment per grad class
6. Open the windows.
7. Plant flowers.
8. Mop kitchen and bathroom.
9. Get out new 31 My Home items and sort toys.
10. Vacuum all rooms.
11. Watch Cinda lella...but not more than once a day.
12. Play dress up.
13. Have ice cream for snack.
14. Go for walks
15. Remove at least one tote from basement.

There, 15 things and only 6 of them are actual work things. I feel much more confident about this than usual.

Welcome to my world. Nothing too exciting going on here....I am a teacher and enjoy telling my friends about the interesting things that happen in my daily life. I find the most pleasure in the simple things that occur daily. Like the brilliant sunsets as I drive home from work or the way Maggie whimpers and paws when she dreams in the kitchen or the way Cody starts my car when he leaves for work just because he knows I don't like to be cold.
