Dear Lady in Walmart with the super nice clothes, annoyed expression and tappy foot,
I did not appreciate you tapping your foot while I was explaining to my toddler that the cashier would give her the finger nail polish right back.
I did not appreciate your annoyed expression when the cashier said "Hello again! Another cart full tonight?" and then when I replied "Yes, these groceries are for me, the others were for work."
I did not appreciate your exquisetly outlined red lips being pursed as you glanced at me.
I did not appreciate the way you were brushing your jacket lapel and glancing at us as we tried to hurry.
The tears were on the edge as my infant began to fuss in the car seat.
Your tappy foot got more tappy.
You even sighed once.
Inconveniencing people is one of the things that worry me the most, being a bother to others is something I go out of my way to avoid.
So as my toddler was lifted out of the cart so the last bag could be placed in and I reminded her for the third time to "hold on tightly to the cart because there are lots of cars in the parking lot" I was surprised by you.
You put a hand on my elbow, saying very gently and quietly "I remember those days. It gets easier."
Then you smiled a genuinely kind smile.
I am not sure if your tappy foot and annoyed red pouty lips were a figment of my imagination but I am 85% sure your words were not imagined.
I appreciate you now. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mom who will keep her own tappy foot in check

Are The Beetles making a come back in Kansas?
Carly is into names and relationships. She wants to know what everyone's name is and how they are related - example: "What is Maggie's middle name? Is she my big sister or my little sister?"
Well...Maggie is the dog, she is registered so her middle name is Mae "Her middle name is "Mae". Maggie is older than her but she is bigger than Maggie. "Maggie is your big sister"
"I like her being my sister, she has blonde hair like me."
The minds of children!
The other day Carly and I went on an adventure to check baby calves with my step dad - Mark. She wanted to know the baby calf's name. Mark told her it was "George". She was happy with that and on occasion asks to go see "George". We will probably have to have a heifer or cow named George until she is old enough to understand that baby calf George will be sent to sale in a few months.
Monday we went to check calves again - there was a brand new one and Mark gave it an "ear ring" which is just a numbered tag and you write down in a book which cow the calf belongs to for record keeping purposes.
After giving the calf the "ear ring" Carly asked Mark what the calf's name was. He said "George" she said "no, there is already a George" so Mark smiled and said "How about Paul"
My daughter thought that was a great name and waved bye-bye to Paul.
If the next calf is named John or Ringo I will no be surprised.

Misconstrued
It was brought to my attention that the things I say in class could be misconstrued by those walking by in the hall.
While you can't hear most teachers from the hallway, you can always hear me. I do not scream all day, I do enunciate really well, and louder than the rest of the teachers.
Okay, I yell sometimes.
Anyways....today I tried to think of how my words would sound in the hallway.
I have to admit it, a lot of what I say can easily be misconstrued especially to someone with a dirty mind. Also I am funnier than I thought or I have a dirtier mind. Anyways here is a sampling of the day.
"Either of those places is acceptable just don't put it in your mouth." - when a student was asking if he should put raw cookie dough in the trash or a paper towel or if he could eat it.
"BAM!! Science in FACS class, is your mind blown?" - when discussing how lipids are another name for fats.
"Apples are like people, they are the same on the inside, different on the outside and some are better for different things" - 8th grade FACS. This was meant as we all have different skills and some apples make better pie.

Overwhelmed and Happy About It
I am overwhelmed.
School just started.
Carly is fighting with a girl at daycare.
I am the FCCLA district advisor this year.
Graduate classes started today - I have to have 150 observation hours which might not work out because I can only observe during my planning time.... of which I do not have 150 hours in a semester.
I don't have a planning time because I am observing for grad classes (this is my own doing, I know, stop judging me)
Carly keeps peeing herself during supper time even if we potty immediately before supper.
I am the scholar's bowl coach this year, guess which activity the activities board decided needed to take a written rules test??
Website administrating is getting out. of. control. I hope the new technology guy learns fast because I don't want it anymore.
There is a giant pile of laundry in the basement, and behind the door of our bedroom and behind the door to the bathroom.
The dishes from tonight aren't done....the dishes from yesterday aren't done, the day before...you guessed it. NOT DONE EITHER.
All of this is my own doing. I have volunteered for things because I know no one else will do them and things are falling behind because I can't stop hugging my husband and daughter.
For the 12 of you who read this and are my friends in real life you will know I like to read. I read a lot of things, journal articles, research articles (damn you grad school!!), novels of all genres including smut, I enjoy smutty books the most. I believe it is a form of escapism, not that my life is that bad, but wouldn't it be nice to have a man know exactly how to sweep you off your feet and make you a cup of tea? Sheldon from BBT and I have the same tea making OCD.
I also enjoy blogs- it is probably because I ama snoop curious and love a good laugh from funny bloggers.
One of the blogs I read took a turn to the sad a while back when this woman's husband was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away this week. They have two children, he was only 34.
Everything in my life melted away. She has no idea I even read her blog, or how much I have enjoyed reading her posts and how she is funny and real at the same time. She doesn't care, she is trying to find a way to make her and her children's life make sense again.
So I am not worried about grading papers, or observation hours or even if I have to move the dirty laundry over so I can put my feet down when I squat to pee.
I am hugging and giggling and getting play-doh in the carpet. We ate raw cookie dough and watched Dora for an hour. The garden is overgrown and there is a sizable layer of dust on everything.
So be it, Carly is sleeping in bed with us tonight and I will get her sweet curls damp as I cry myself to sleep and hold her and Cody as tight as possible.

Dear Nick Junior....
Dora the Explorer is giving my daughter unrealistic expectations of traveling with men. I have compiled a list of things that Dora is doing that are setting her up for failure. This is something I have thought about for a while. We are going on a short road trip soon and I thought that this is a valid time to express my concerns.
Pre planning:
Using landmarks your friend told you were on the way is frustrating to them (as is repeating the directions a bunch of times!)
Also, you can not ask for input from all of your friends....or ask them to come along just because they showed up at your house right before you were ready to leave.
Backpack:
Men don't like you taking that much luggage so you can't bring a backpack full of all the stuff you want or might need just in case.
If you do bring something that gets used, you can't say "Great, good thing I brought that extra large bottle of hydrogen peroxide." They will scoff at you and say "Yeah we needed the peroxide..but we are hiking in the mountains....why do you have three kinds of lip gloss, who are you planning to make out with, a bear?"
Map:
Don't even think of bringing your map because having it will just make them feel like you don't have confidence in their ability to navigate. I suggest laying it on the table near, but not next to their belongings so they think it is their idea to take it.
*On a side note, my husband likes having the map and requests it if it is not in the car. He is an excellent navigator and can read a map.*
Being passive aggressive by saying "map" over and over if you do get lost is just asking for a fight.
Don't be smug when you figure out where you need to go.
On the way:
Do not suggest to help anyone you see on the way. Distractions throw them off the end goal, getting to the location before the time the GPS said you should be there.
Do not repeat the directions every time you go past a scheduled stop. "Yeah....lunch at Hardee's was great, next we go through the toll booth off of I-35, then across the big red bridge and we will get to the giant blue lake!"
Getting to your location:
Throwing confetti and running in circles is not acceptable. This implies you hated being with them and are excited to not have to listen to their rock music anymore.
It is also not okay to tell all your friends all the crazy things that happend on the the trip. Mostly because they probably don't care that there was a hairy homeless guy under the big red bridge yelling "Rojo bridge, you made it across the rojo bridge, Great Job!"

That's what he said...
My daughter is being a real whiner here lately. She is 2 1/2 so it is to be expected but it is really getting on my nerves.
The other day (no wait, EVERY DAY) wants a drink so she says "I neeeeedddd sommmmm juuuuuiiiiicccceeee" with her face all scrunched up and a pleading look in her eyes.
I sigh first then respond "We need to say it nicely."
Blank stare with scrunchy face from the kid.
"Say, I would like some juice please" with an upbeat sound and a plesant smile.
In a tone that I will call imitation...instead of mockery "I would like some juiiiiicccceeeee peas"
Insert internal sigh and a bright smile on the outside with more upbeat sounds and words of praise we skip off to the refrigerator to get some juuuuuuiiiiiicccccceeee.
5 minutes later the kid comes crying to me. I have no idea what she is saying it sounds like this "alkakfhnf **sob** (wipe a tear) lskjfifonn slfnfn aldkjaoinf and kandionelajndfk andka **sob**" (throw head in my lap and sob again)
"Carly, I do not understand what you are saying. Stop crying and whining and just talk to me."
" I....**sob** ...need alkdnakjnakj aknakjnas and I want some alknafnka ajnanff cause it is." (more on the "cause it is" bit later)
"Carly, you have to ask for what you want, I can't understand you when you cry like that. Just ask me for what you need and I will do my best to get it."
Insert a flouresent object with a pull chain above my head and in your best Gru voice (from Despicable Me) say "Lightbulb" as you pull the chain.
I have never been one of those people who say "God told me to!"
Maybe God is giving me the silent treatment or maybe I can't hear him (I have a hearing deficiency on the left side...maybe he is whispering on my left side!!! OH NO!!)
I do believe in the JFV (Jesus' Funniest Video's) if you would like more information on these please see my friend Sharita's blog. She has a great explaination.
So...back to the kid and the whining. When I told her that she needed to stop and just tell me what she wanted I had a lightbulb and JFV moment.
In my head I imagine God looking a Peter and chuckling saying "See what I did there...."
You see, I had a thought. That is exactly what I need to do. Stop whining and crying and stomping around about something and just tell God what is going on. He will do his best, He knows my heart and what is best for me. He sees the big picture that I can't see, but sometimes we just have to say it in a plain voice instead of assuming He knows what we want and will make it happen.
I really hope I haven't caused Him to grit his teeth and say in an upbeat voice "Use your grown up words and grown up voice, I don't know what you want unless you ask for it."
Side bar: In movies God's voice is often Morgan Freeman's voice. I always think of it as Patrick Warburton's voice - he is the voice of Kronk from The Emperor's New Groove, The Wolf in Hoodwinked and a bazillion other characters.

Both Direction and Magnitude
I have been reading lots of blogs lately. I enjoy them, I am kind of a snoopy curious person and enjoy reading about other people's lives.
One of such mentioned blogs said that to be a successful blogger you need to have direction in your blog and write about a passion.
Which is great advice-kind of. My passions include eating, napping (not so much sleeping - a post for later), teaching, crafting, cooking and friend/family time, reading - mostly smut and historical fiction, oh! and crime novels.
Here is the "kind of" part. Passion is abundant in my life but direction is not. It is like on Dispicable Me when Vector (my favorite character in this particular movie) explains his name "I go by Vector. It's a mathematical term, represented by an arrow with both direction and magnitude. Vector! That's me, because I commit crimes with both direction and magnitude. Oh yeah".
So I have the magnitude part but not the direction part.
I think teaching and other educational things would be good topics but there are all these "laws" about privacy and what no, that I don't think I can write about just that.
Napping is a serious passion of mine but not good blog fodder. I should do a post on my napping vs. sleeping philosophy.
Eating is a great blog topic but I am not a foodie or a good photographer and I forget to take a picture until half the casserole is gone - you know how appealing a half eating shepherd's pie is??? It looks awfully close to the bottom of a trash can but it tastes SOOO GOOOD... okay, cooking blog is also out of the question.
Crafting is out too. I do "crafts for real people" not that ambitious stuff on pinterest.
Reading seems like a great topic, people are really into smut currently with 50 Shades of Grey being so popular but I don't think I want to give suggestions on books, as my tastes in smut are varied and depend on the author. While I like a little action and a lot of romance in my smut I mostly enjoy the banter and character development. SERIOUSLY!!
So lastly I am left with friend/family time. This I can write about. I don't want this blog to be a daily journal or just a list of all the cutesy things my kid does but it would be nice to have a place to share favorite memories and happenings. This pretty much sums up all of the above items.
So we are basically no where...just me trying to figure out which direction and with how much magnitude this should be pursued.

Lint versus Lent
Lint is the stuff you take out of your dryer and throw away - or if you are my students you have a blatant disregard for properly disposing of this laundering by product.
JUST PUT IT IN THE TRASH!!
Unless you are one of those lint artists...then by all means, keep it, in fact, come get mine, it is on the floor next to the trash can...that's right.... next to it. Like those people who walk right past the dish washer to put their plate in the sink. Infuriating.

Lint that floats in the air and pills up on your sweater, it sticks to you. You often don't know its there until someone picks a piece off and says "Oh yeah, you just had a piece of lint right there...I got it for you."
I feel like during Lent we are doing that with God. He is pointing to a little tiny piece of lint on us and saying "You've got something right there, can I help you get it?" Not that what we are giving up/refraining from, etc is something that needs to be picked off and thrown out forever. Maybe just moved or changed - or given to that crazy cat lady down the street that makes catnip filled pockets of light blue lint for her cats.
I gave up seconds last year and I am doing it again. It was hard last year and it is hard this year. Each time I really want more I try to be thankful for what I have and pray to God and tell him that I do not need more, He is enough to fill me.
This doesn't mean I am starving myself...dinner plates are 9'' in diameter around here, there is plenty of space for a filling meal on there.
This doesn't mean I don't slip. I had a snack the other day - a handful of cashews, then I got another. Then I thought "Crap, I got seconds on snack time."
For me this is all about being thankful and finding contentment with what I have. My husband has a job right now and I am trying to be thankful that He and he are still providing for us. (upper case and lower case..get it? He=God and he=Cody)
I am trying to not go overboard, which is hard because there are fancy dinners I want to cook and sweets to bake, and well....to be honest. Clothes I want to buy for myself and daughter, home furnishings to purchase to update my home, paint because I am tired of the color.
I am not being thankful that I have a home that does not have lead paint, that I have furniture that is safe and clean, clothes on our backs that are not in disrepair and are clean. Also, that we have a way to clean them, Even if they come out wrinkled and with a little lint on them. I bet after Lent I will be a little wrinkled too, but I hope this Lent sticks.

That's a Chicken!
The super bowl was great wasn't it?
What you didn't have fun?
I did...had breakfast with the cutest kid ever, played with Mags, went to church, went to a fabric store because they had $1.00 fat quarters, came home, took a nap, made a corn n macaroni casserole, went to a super bowl party, did some for-reals college homework, graded some student homework, laundry, bed.
Back up...you went to a fabric store for fat quarters...what the heck are those?
Fat quarters are a fourth of a yard of fabric but instead of the fabric being cut into four even "strips", the yard of fabric is divided into four quarters...giving it a nearly square appearance.
This is a big deal?
YES, fat quarters are typically between $1.75-$3.00...these were ONE DOLLAR!! (Do you feel like you were just in an episode of Sheldon Cooper Presents Fun with Flags on The Big Bang Theory..'cause you should!)
This little adventure with my mom, grandma, and Carly was the highlight of my super bowl...Paul Harvey's "Why God Made Farmers" was a close second.
We have been talking about farm animals and wouldn't you know it - 5 minutes into shopping at the fabric store Carly decided she was bored. SURPRISE!! Luckily there was another little girl there and they had so much fun running in between tables and undertables and trying to knock down 70 year old women and break their hips...fun was had by all.
Finally I corralled my heathen and took her over to look at the cool wall hangings that looked like this...
I pointed to one similar to the above picture and asked her what it was..."K-State Wildcats, Mama" and without missing a beat she pointed to the next one and proudly said...."That's a Chicken!" Oh yes. The KU wall hanging, she thought, included a chicken.

Fa la la la la it's finally over
I love Christmastime! I love the family part, the Jesus part (Advent is my favorite time of the year at church!), getting to make festive treats, the buying things for people and they can't give you the "you should not have done that" look part, the getting to run around like a crazy person part...okay not that.
We have a bazillion Christmas functions to go to. This is what happens when your parents get divorced and remarried - both sets of parents, yours and your husbands. You end up with a thousand Christmas functions. Which is great, until they all plan them on the same day and it feels like this...
Hello - thanks for the food and gifts, here are your gifts, Merry Christmas, BYE!
Repeat, 40 more times...or maybe 7...that is correct, we had 8 Christmas functions that we attended this year, all family.
We are blessed to have so much family. I really do try to keep my complaining about all the running during Christmas to the fact that we don't get to spend very much time with any of the family.
If we could spread Christmas out a little and get to spend more than a few hours at each of our family gatherings I would enjoy it a lot more.
Having changed our schedules for some to "every other year" has helped. As in we only go to step family gatherings on the "off" year. It has helped but we still miss seeing them (obviously this was NOT the off year) when we don't go.
There is no happy medium so I just embrace the chaos as much as possible and smile when the family members fill Carly up on candy and crap food - she still doesn't understand why she can't have cookies for breakfast.

Dear Blogger -
I have been teaching my students to write courteous complaint letters so I am modeling that now. Your schedule function is not working correctly. It is making me very annoyed because I like to blog a few times then not post them all at once. However; your non working function is making that impossible. Things are not showing up when they are supposed to.
I would appreciate it if you could give me some feed back on what I am doing wrong, or fix the issue. I like all other aspects of your service and would like to continue use with Blogger.
I look forward to a speedy conclusion to this issue. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Kayla Taylor

Thankful Part 2
Part 2 of Thankful November is here!!
We thought you weren't coming back.
Common misconception, you need to have more faith in my return....apparently we are still in the "trust vs. mistrust" stage - lets work on that.
Seriously, an Erickson reference, at 10:30 at night, on a Tuesday?
Yeah, get over yourself...now a bunch of people have to Google "Erickson, trust vs mistrust".
November 5 - I am thankful for my job. While it is not always super fun it is a great job with great co-workers, administrators, students and parents. I can not think of a better place to teach at right now. The support from this community has been fantastic, it makes me feel like teaching was the best choice I could have made with my college degree.
November 6 - I am thankful for my dad (Happy Birthday DAD!) You are super funny and always know random stuff that makes me smile, and sometimes helps me win knowledge bets.
November 7 - I am thankful for friends who understand my obsession with books and at times get my jokes, like when I use the reference "shouty capitals" and my co-worker almost spits milk out her nose during lunch. You know it's a good day when there is almost a nose spew.
November 8 - I am thankful for my sister. Carly has an amazing aunt whom she calls "Kee Kaw" we have no idea why. She loves Kee Kaw and gets really excited when she calls, Caitlin is one of the few people Carly actually talks to on the phone. Talk - read: says one or two word phrases like "lunch, eat it, pizza, more bites, Baggie house, some" which translates to "We had lunch, I ate some, it was pizza. Maggie is in the house, I threw a fit at the end of lunch and when mom told me to take more bites I gave some to Maggie instead." Somehow my sister gets the translation - this is why she is getting a degree in early childhood education, because she is totes awesome.
November 9 - I am thankful for my step mom (Happy Birthday KIM!) I am glad you are part of our family. You keep my dad in line and give a healthy dose of sarcasm to everything we do. You also write a mean newspaper - OH COME ON DAD....we all know who really runs the show, you are just the writer (hee hee)
November 10 - I am thankful for Saturdays and sleeping in and also cuddling with my daughter until 7:30 in the morning, even with the crazy time change just a week ago, she still slept past 6:00! Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
November 11 - I am thankful that my husband is home safely - he went to South Dakota for a hunting trip and came home much more relaxed and happier - he needed a mancation. Plus he brought home some delicious phesant.
November 12 - I am thankful for Mondays. I dislike them, but am thankful for them because one day it won't matter that it is Monday and the beginning of the work week. I could be retired or unemployed. But for now there are Mondays and Mondays are good because that means I have a job and we have a solid income we can depend on, we might squeak by but we are squeaking still!
November 13 - I am thankful for job interviews. My husband had one today and while he might not get the job. Knowing that someone liked him enough to give him a job interview is pretty exciting. We will know if he got the job on Friday - until then, my 15 followers, send a little prayer for us - espeically for my wonderful husband who really really wants this job.

Thankful November and other November only things
There are a bazillion people doing "Thankful November" on their facebook walls each and every day.
As you all know I have tried the "post stuff every day thing" and it fails miserably each time.
yeah, we know, we read each day for the first two days and then came back for another week and there were no posts. Do you even know how this blog thing works?
YES, I know how this blog thing works...gezz, get off my back.
I have devised a plan to do a modified "Thankful November" in which I post about each day just not on each day. We will see how it goes.
I am also participating in "No Shave November" in which I will refuse to shave, except my armpits - those are a must. My husband loves this one!!
Yeah, I bet he loves it, about as much as he loves when you ask him to rub your feet and take out the trash.
But I will not participate in "Movember" as I am not yet in menopause and can not grow a mustache, this one I leave to men with enough testosterone to grow facial hair and most women over 60.

Grad School
Not sure when I decided that grad school was a good idea but I take it back.
It is not overly difficult, it is just one more thing that I don't have enough time to devote 100% to. Honestly after supper and getting Carly to bed I want to just snuggle on the couch with my husband and watch some NCIS or New Girl. Instead I am up until midnight two or three nights a week trying to write papers and organize my brain.
If I had only taken one class this semester it would probably be better - but it would take me so long to finish. I figure if I take 6 hours a semester and summer I can be done in two and a half years. We shall see.
I do like Emporia State University - the Early Childhood Master's program is pretty great and my adviser is nice, she is also one of the professors I will have throughout so that is extra good.
I hope to not wish I had made a different choice as my professional goal is to teach Child Development as a dual credit course - but to teach dual credit you have to have a masters and be affiliated with a college...sooo....here goes nothing!

How to be a Princess
![]() |
| Find this exact shirt at www.shirtofun.com |
I was not overly conceited, I just liked princess stuff. No one ever called me princess, or treated me like a princess, in fact I despised dresses and often wore jeans and tennis shoes to school....and every where else.
Then I went to college, had a great time and forgot all about the princess phase.
Fast forward 8 years to this morning - 6:45 am, hair is wet and not brushed, make-up is half on, under eye bags are super baggy as I wrote 1 paper and re-read/edited another for masters classes last night, shirt untucked, pink skirt is wrinkled from being left in the dryer over night, no deodorant, teeth not brushed.
Carly comes careening into the bathroom giggling, hair wild, one shoe on the other in her hand, and stops to look at me.
We make eye contact and I lead her to the living room, set her on my lap to put her other shoe on. She pats my disheveled skirt and says "Mama pretty, Mama princess" and smiles at me then slips off my lap before I can give her a hug.
Way better than any t-shirt.

Back to skoo!
It has been a good two weeks of actual "kids in classroom" and I don't want to run screaming so I think it is going to be a good year!
Change is hard and I have made some changes this year. Moved my desk to the back of the classroom, got rid of a filing cabinet, started my masters.
Oh you didn't get that last one. I STARTED MY MASTERS. Yeah SHOUTY CAPITALS all in your face.
What? What are shouty capitals you ask? Read 50 Shades of Grey. It's worth it, poor writing as far as novels go but good imagery. Very very very good imagery, especially if you need to spice up your own personal intimate life.
WHOA!! She just mixed intimate moments and a school post. What is she doing?
I am out of control I tell you! Not really, my BFF is having a wedding reception in her husbands home town where they currently reside and I am getting all squirrelly with excitement because I love getting to see her!
The students have noticed my excitement, one asked me if I was drinking something special in my coffee. I said yes because I thought she meant the creamer....hey, it is french vanilla creamer, which is way cooler than the stupid 2% milk my husband buys. I like my milk like I like my beer - with ALL the calories.
WHOA!! She just added alcohol to the intimate moments and school post...she is out of control!
While we are talking about my husband, he is sort-of doneish with school. No more linemen classes,no more traveling a billion miles away every day for skoo, but he is taking two on-line classes so he can finish up his associates in something (2012 bad wife award in the bag, don't even apply, the committee has already notified me that the ceremony is sometime this fall).
He hasn't gotten a lineman job yet but he has been applying and in the mean time he is doing lots of electrical things.
And by lots I mean not so many because it is CRAZY HUMID. When it was cooler he was much more productive, I am sure he will be this fall again....although it would be nice if he folded more clothes and did a few more dishes, but hey....it's not like I was super productive this summer either.
In summary, school is going good, I read a racy novel, the kids think I am boozing my coffee and I am excited for Labor Day Weekend in Pburg!! WOOOOO!
Drive safe everyone.
(picture is from Kids Health.org, I borrowed a banner because it looks almost like the one in the elementary hallway)

How I know he loves me and Jesus
Eric Church is my "celeb crush" I know he has a wife, probably a child, a fantastic career, he has no idea who I am and about 50% of his songs are about partying (in various ways), I always check to see who the writers of those types of songs are and a lot of the time it is not just the artist but someone in the band and the singer collaborates with them so I am in denial about his extra curricular activities.
He sings about all sorts of things, which is nice because my spaztastic brain jumps around a lot too-his newest album is pretty great, my hubs got it via the AMAZONE, it's what I call amazon...call me if you need something, we have free prime shipping, probably because my hubs orders a lot of parts for electrical jobs and if you buy a billion dollars of stuff they are all like have some free shipping! only Cabela's can one up the AMAZONE. If you buy a billion dollars of stuff from them they send you the catalog in hard back FANCY!!!
Anyways...back to the hottie behind the mirrored glasses....apparently he speaks to my husband as well as myself because Cody dragged me out to the truck during nap time (mine AND Carly's) to listen to his song "Loves me like Jesus does." (see lyrics at the end of this post)
Yes I cried, yes I have tried a gazillion (slightly more than a million) times to get Cody to go to church with me, never happens. Oddly enough when he says no to church it reminds me of all the times Stephy tried to get me to go to the Rec in college and I would give her the fatty face and go back to sleep. Karma??
Anyways...I once asked Cody why he never wanted to go to church with Carly and I and I always get some total BS answer. I think it is because he went with his grandparents a lot and was baptized at their church with his sister in middle school and so now that they are both gone I think it makes him sad. But that is my non-professional hypothesis. Sooo....things like this song help me remember that he loves me and Jesus a lot, even when we argue and he is bull headed 'cause I'm not - Cody, not Jesus...jezzzz get your mind out of the street!
I'm a long gone Waylon song on vinyl,
I'm a backroad sinner at a tent revival,
She believes in me like she believes her Bible,
She loves me like Jesus does.
I'm a left foot leanin' on a souped up Chevy,
I'm a good ole boy,
Drinkin' Whiskey and Rye on the Levee,
She carries me when my sins make me heavy,
She loves me like Jesus does.
All the crazy in my dreams,
Both my broken wings,
Every single piece of everything I am.
She knows the man I ain't,
She forgives me when I can't.
That devil, man, naw he don't have a chance,
She loves me like Jesus does.
I always thought she'd give up on me someday,
Wash her hands of me, leave me starin' down some runway,
But I thank God each night and twice on Sunday,
She loves me like Jesus does.
All the crazy in my dreams,
Both my broken wings,
Every single piece of everything I am,
She knows the man I ain't,
She forgives me when I can't,
No that Devil, man, he don't have a prayer,
She loves me like Jesus does.
Yeah she knows the man I ain't,
She forgives me when I can't,
That devil, man, naw he don't stand a chance,
She loves me like Jesus does.

Plans and Choices
First you make plans then you make choices to either see the plans through, change the plans or ditch the plans.
I planned on marrying off my best friend, blogging twice a week, sorting out the basement, cleaning the stuff you don't do each week unless you are my grandma or Heloise (baseboards, windows, behind the fridge, etc) organizing the house, rearranging the bedroom, loosing 5 pounds, going on morning walks with Carly, canning bushels of tomatoes, salsa, and pasta sauce among other lofty goals of the summer.
I chose to clean out 2 totes in the basement, reorganize the cabinet with the pans in it, canned 15 pints of salsa 25 quarts of salsa or pasta sauce with my SIL, made 2 quart baggies of sun dried tomatoes, froze a gallon bag of basil, let the garden go a week ago. Spent a lot of time on short walks, spent a lot more time watering the garden, and a lot more on the living room floor playing with Carly or with the girls and their kids. I only got the baseboards wiped down!
And of course Kelly made a beautiful bride and we had a great weekend!
There were lots of things on my list to do and a few got done, but we made a lot more memories. So I suppose it is only fitting that a week and a half before school begins I start blogging again....such is life. So I leave you with a few pictures of my summer!
Carly loved putting Daddy's change in her piggy bank.
Thank you Daddy and Maggie for putting up the swing set!
Ellie and Carly taking turns in the car on the 4th of July.
All the kids enjoying the BBQ!
Becca and Carly playing on the new swing set.
And having a sleep over!!
Carly is really into silverware right now. She needs a fork or spoon for everything. This is cereal, with a splash of milk and a "Bid poon" aka a big spoon which is just a regular spoon but she doesn't want her kid sized ones anymore.

Believing in rocks
I am a couponer...not the crazy kind, nor do I stock pile for
impending doom. But I do like to watch TV about crazy couponers and
people who stock pile for impending doom (not the allergy induced kind -
actual doom).
Carly's baby sitter and I were talking about this the other day and about the whole Mayan Impending Doom stuff. I made the comment, "funny how a bunch of people believe in an old rock....I guess I'm weird too, I believe in 10 rocks" WOOOAAA!
Did.That.Just.Come.Out.Of.My.Face.!?! I've been thinking on that comment a lot lately and how the Lord makes random things fly out of my face. For some people they might be funny things, or insightful things but to me its just how my brain works. I don't think I am "special" in a -the Lord Hath Given Me A Gift - way. More of a - my super power is Not Having a Filter -way.
Believing in rocks is a lot harder at work than in "real" life. I say "real" because being a teacher in a high school there are a lot of real issues, however; the majority of the problems are ridiculous drama -which is not so much real but mostly hormone induced hallucinations. The drama is exhausting, especially when I want to tell the students to pray on their problems but I can't, because it is against the law. Occasionally there is an opportunity to talk about Jesus - legally!! Like when I used the phrase "good Samaritan" and a student asked me where that phrase came from. Or when we talk about how religion plays a role in food choices and holiday traditions, as well as in Spanish when we talk about important figures like Our Lady of Guadalupe.
This was on Pinterest, think it is going to be a summer craft project for my room next year.
I believe in rocks - 10 of them.

Angry legs
My legs are angry with me...too much standing *cramp*, too much sitting *cramp*, too much sleep all curled up warm and cozy next to my husband with out Baby T kicking hard enough to wake me up *Charlie Horse cramp*
Bananas, water, Tylenol, plenty of iron, extra vitamin, alternating walking and sitting in 15-30 minute rotations during the day. Nothing helps, suggestions??
Oh well, if the most horrible thing I go through until "Labor Day" is leg cramps I can totally deal!
At least the toes at the ends of my angry legs look really great. (Thanks to my awesome hubby...he did a fabulous job!)

Welcome to my world. Nothing too exciting going on here....I am a teacher and enjoy telling my friends about the interesting things that happen in my daily life. I find the most pleasure in the simple things that occur daily. Like the brilliant sunsets as I drive home from work or the way Maggie whimpers and paws when she dreams in the kitchen or the way Cody starts my car when he leaves for work just because he knows I don't like to be cold.
